Moon Phases: Harnessing the Power of Lunar Energy

The lunar influence is one of the most powerful forms of energy we experience on Earth. This lunar influence may be felt during certain moon phases as the moon's energy lends a helping hand. The moon phases correlate to specific energies that we can harness and use to empower our lives, helping us manifest, plan, become inspired, and release what no longer serves us. Many people are only aware of the enhanced effects of a full moon, but three other prominent phases significantly impact our daily lives. This article will teach you about the different moon phases and rituals you can use to harness their powerful energies.

The New Moon

The new moon is a time for silence, rest, renewal, and imagination. The moon appears hidden from the night sky during this time, creating a darker atmosphere than any other moon phase. The new moon is frequently associated with the start of manifestation. An idea must first be planted in your imagination before you can manifest anything. As you reflect on this idea or inspiration in your life, you begin to empower it.

If there's something you've been trying to manifest or a problem you've been trying to solve, the new moon is a great time to start "seeing" it as a possibility. Because the moon is missing from the sky, there is also a lack of energy. This means that now is not the best time to begin taking action toward a goal or manifestation. Instead, you want to take advantage of your lack of energy or influence to become more in tune with what you truly want for the future without having to take those first few steps toward it.

Determining what you want can be difficult if you're like most people. It can be difficult to tune in to ourselves with all of the external stimuli we encounter throughout the day. Fortunately, meditation allows you to tune out the outside world and embrace your inner expression. Spend time in meditation during the full moon. Allow your body to relax completely and concentrate on your breathing. After you've quieted the outside world, start mentally asking yourself the following questions:

"What do I want out of life?"

"What makes me happy?"

"What do I want to accomplish?"

After your meditation, write down what you've experienced to help you understand what you should start manifesting or solving in your life. Allow your mind to wander and present these answers to you in the form of images, thoughts, or emotions. You can also write down any other thoughts or desires you have. Once you have a list of desires, decide which are the most important for where you are in life right now, and these will serve as a focal point for the rest of the moon phases.

The Waxing Moon

The waxing moon refers to the time of lunar transitions when the moon begins to emerge from darkness. This appears to be a slow draw as the moon grows from a thin sliver of light to its nearly full body. You planted seeds of ideas or desires during the previous moon phase, the new moon. These seeds were planted in the universe's soil and given the nutrients and hydration, they required to germinate. The waxing moon energizes these seeds, allowing them to sprout from the soil. As the moon grows, these plants grow taller, gradually transitioning from small plants to adult forms.

Now is the time to get things moving and lay the energetic groundwork for your desires. The waxing moon's lunar energy encourages you to take action. For example, if you're using the moon phases to manifest a job during the waxing moon, you'll want to start buying outfits and other necessities for when you get the job. This attracts your desires to you more quickly. When you take intentional action toward them, you become more of a frequency match to them.

You can use scripting as a powerful ritual during the waxing moon. This technique immerses your subconscious mind in your desires, allowing them to become a reality. When you script, you create a journal entry as if your desire is already present. For example, if you're trying to manifest a relationship, you might write a journal entry about a recent experience with your partner. This ritual tool aids in the maturation of the seeds planted during the new moon.

You can also use a ritual candle to help empower and grow your intentions or desires. Light the candle, meditate on the flame, and visualize your desires as if they’re happening right now. The flame’s energy helps energize these visuals into your reality experience.

The Full Moon

The full moon is the most well-known of all moon phases. This lunar cycle is associated with elevated emotions and occasionally chaotic behavior. But the full moon is much more than meets the eye. Your desires have reached their peak during this time. The full moon contains the most potent form of lunar energy, which shines on everything.

Everything you've worked for in previous moon phases has paid off, and you can now enjoy what you've created. During this time, you will also be challenged to become aware of everything that is going on in your life, both good and bad. During this time, it's important to reflect on what you're grateful for in order to help the universe understand what you want more of in your life.

Making moon water allows you to tap into the full moon's potent energy. Simply set out a cup or jug of water in the moonlight. Allow it to see overnight before retrieving it the next morning. If you can't keep it outside, you can put it near a window sill. The moon's energy supercharges the water, which can then be used for moon baths or other rituals. When you need a boost of energy or are attempting to manifest something, moon water is an excellent choice.

The Waning Moon

After the heightened energy of the full moon, the moon gradually begins to fade away from the night sky. This is a slow process that allows you to reflect on previous moon phases as well as where you are today. The moon's light appears to be drawn away into the darkness, removing it from the sky. You can use the lunar energy during this time to help you remove anything that no longer serves you.

You may have less energy or space for other aspects of your lives now that you have your full moon manifestations. Perhaps you've realized that a relationship has ended or that your job no longer allows you to express yourself creatively. The waxing moon can assist you in peacefully removing these areas of your life, giving you more space to enjoy your newfound desires and experiences.

A ritual bath is an excellent tool for "removing" anything that is no longer serving you. Choose what you want to let go of. When you've come up with an idea, look up specific herbs that are associated with what you want to achieve. Make a tea with these herbs and add them to your moon bath water. Crystals that aid in the removal of old energies, such as black tourmaline or obsidian, can be added.

The moon bath ritual assists in removing these energies at their roots, allowing more space for new desires to grow during the next moon phases. Rest in the bath for 20 to 30 minutes, imagining yourself without the experiences you want to get rid of. When you're finished, lie in the bath while the water drains and feel the water draw these feelings from your body as it drains from the tub.

Begin Today

You are not required to begin your lunar journey at the beginning of the new moon. If this phase has already passed, begin where you are now. Consider the moon phases and the energy that each brings into your life. Each phase contains powerful energy that can be used to advance along your journey, no matter where you are now. Accept the moon in all of its phases and openly invite this powerful energy into your life.
